Strategic Guardrails / Privacy

Privacy, in plain English.

What this site collects, what it never collects, and the choices you have. Last updated August 7, 2026.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages people visit and where they came from. Nothing runs until you choose. Analytics cookies stay off unless you click Accept on the consent banner, and your choice is remembered in your browser, not on our servers. We run no advertising trackers of any kind. If you decline, the site works exactly the same.

The Sound-Alike Test

When you enter a website, we read that site's public homepage once to run the scan, and we analyze its public copy with an AI service (Anthropic) to build your competitor lineup. We do not save the page's content. We keep a simple record of the scan itself: the domain that was entered, its score, and whether the scan succeeded, retained for 90 days so we can see how the tool is used. That record contains no name, no email, no IP address, and no way to identify who ran the scan.

Teardown requests

If you request a free Positioning Teardown, you give us your name, work email, website, and optionally the challenge you're facing. We use that to build your teardown, email it to you, and follow up personally about it. That's the whole use: you are not added to a newsletter or marketing list, and we never sell or share your information. The email is delivered through Resend, and the form is processed by Netlify, which also hosts this site and keeps standard server logs.

Your choices

Decline the cookie banner and analytics stays off. Want to know what we hold about you, or want it deleted? Email matt@pennebaker.com and we'll take care of it. Strategic Guardrails is a practice of Pennebaker, Houston, Texas.
